As we are all too aware, our forests and our homes are at increasing risk of fire each year . Because of this, the Friends of Woodhaven is committed to assisting the Regional District of the Central Okanagan in reducing the fire fuel load in Woodhaven.
Please join us on Saturday October 14 to haul more dead and downed wood from the forest floor. We have two time slots: 9:30 - 11:30 am or 12:30 - 2:30 pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please register here or send an email to nancyholmes.nh@gmail.com with an RSVP about which time slot you'd like to help out. Bring friends, colleagues, neighbours! Middle school and teens are most welcome too. Come to the parking lot of Woodhaven (4711 Raymer Road) with work gloves and good footwear. Dress for the weather. We're doing this rain or shine! THe RDCO will have any other equipment we need.
By the way, this year we have five high school classes coming to work earlier in the week! Last year, high school students and several member volunteers removed 3.5 tonnes of debris from the forest. Let's break that record!
